Senior Data Engineer, DX

About the role

DX, part of Atlassian, is a fast-growing SaaS company that collects millions of data points daily to power insights into developer productivity and experience. It is headquartered in Salt Lake City, Utah, and the role is listed as remote. The engineer builds and maintains the data pipelines that feed research reports such as the AI Impact Reports, DX Core 4 benchmarks and industry publications.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain data pipelines that extract, transform and load live product data into research-ready formats (Postgres, data lake or analytics warehouse)
• Design and optimize data models for the recurring analyses behind the AI Impact Reports, DX Core 4 benchmarks and industry-facing publications
• Work with research and engineering teams to turn analytical requirements into scalable, reproducible data infrastructure
• Ensure data quality and consistency, so the same question always gives the same answer
• Support ad hoc data pulls for time-sensitive research and requests from Sales, Customer Success and product teams
• Document schemas, transformation logic, data dictionaries and pipeline dependencies so analysts and researchers can self-serve

Required profile

• Strong SQL skills: writing complex queries, optimizing performance and modeling data for analytical workloads
• Experience building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines that move data from production systems into analytics-ready formats
• Comfort working with large, messy, real-world datasets, cleaning, normalizing and validating them at scale
• Strong documentation habits, and ability to manage recurring deadlines with minimal oversight
• Nice to have: SaaS product data, telemetry or event-driven data; developer tooling data (Git, CI/CD, Jira); survey data, time-series analysis or benchmarking exposure

What we offer

• Base pay for new hires depending on location: Zone A $167,400-$218,550, Zone B $150,660-$196,695, Zone C $138,942-$181,397
