Senior Cost Engineer

About the role

Moog is seeking a Senior Cost Engineer to join its Military Aircraft Group and lead the development of cost proposals for critical defense programs. The role involves partnering with engineering, finance, contracts and senior leadership to create pricing strategies that drive business growth.

Key responsibilities

• Lead competitive and sole‑source proposal efforts, developing pricing strategies and cost models from development through negotiation and award.
• Develop, analyze, coordinate and support cost proposals for government and commercial customers, ensuring compliance with FAR, DFARS, CAS, TINA and Moog policies.
• Partner with cross‑functional teams to produce accurate, defendable, and competitive cost estimates.
• Prepare and present cost estimates, pricing recommendations and proposal packages to leadership, customers and audit agencies.
• Lead RFIs, fact‑finding, pre‑negotiation positions, pricing certifications, audit support and other customer‑facing pricing discussions.
• Mentor junior team members and drive continuous improvement of proposal processes and pricing tools.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Finance, Business Administration or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in cost engineering, pricing, contracts, proposal development or estimating.
• Strong knowledge of cost engineering principles, pricing methodologies and proposal development practices.
• Experience supporting pricing, sales, contracts or business development activities.
• Working knowledge of FAR, DFARS, Cost Accounting Standards and the Truth in Negotiations Act.
• Ability to access U.S. export‑controlled information.

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience with SAP ERP systems (preferred).
• Knowledge of AI‑driven analytics or pricing tools (preferred).
