Senior Controller – Finance Leadership

About the role

We are seeking a senior Controller to join a 50‑year‑old employee‑owned business. You will partner directly with the CEO/President to shape financial strategy, drive performance insights, and support high‑visibility initiatives such as M&A and system upgrades.

Key responsibilities

• Lead financial strategy, long‑range planning, and capital allocation alongside executive leadership.
• Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring GAAP‑compliant reporting and strong internal controls.
• Manage inventory accounting, margin analysis, and working‑capital efficiency across multiple locations.
• Drive the annual budgeting cycle, rolling forecasts, KPI development, and performance dashboards.
• Support M&A due diligence, integration planning, and financial modeling as needed.
• Partner with IT to optimize ERP systems, automate reporting, and maintain data integrity.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred.
• 8‑12+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, preferably in distribution, wholesale, or inventory‑intensive environments.
• Demonstrated leadership of finance teams and cross‑functional initiatives.
• Experience with banking relationships, credit facilities, and covenant compliance.
