Senior Commissioning & Building Performance Engineer

About the role

You will co‑lead a small, highly technical team of energy and sustainability engineers, guiding projects from design advisory and energy modeling through commissioning, retro‑commissioning, and ongoing optimization across multifamily, commercial, and industrial assets.

Key responsibilities

• Lead commissioning engagements, develop plans, conduct functional performance testing of HVAC, electrical, lighting, fire protection, and plumbing systems.
• Perform ASHRAE Level I‑III energy audits, analyze utility and operational data, and identify Energy Conservation Measures.
• Evaluate and optimize HVAC, air‑water distribution, and building automation systems, collaborating with energy modelers.
• Co‑lead and mentor engineers, manage project delivery, timelines, and serve as primary client contact.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Technology, Applied Physics or related field.
• 8+ years of experience in commercial building energy performance, including new construction and existing facilities.
• Commissioning certification from ASHRAE, AEE or BCA and strong knowledge of building energy codes and ASHRAE standards.
• Hands‑on experience with building automation systems and HVAC optimization.

Required skills

• Commissioning processes and functional performance testing.
• Energy audit methodologies (ASHRAE Level I‑III).
• Building automation systems (BAS) troubleshooting.
• HVAC system design and optimization.
• Energy modeling tools such as EnergyPlus, DOE‑2, DesignBuilder.
