Senior Claims Analyst - Life & Disability

About the role

Luminare Health is hiring a Senior Claims Analyst for its Life & Disability unit, working from home. The role covers claim administrative and technical tasks supporting a Claim Unit and/or vendor staff, the Claims Team and internal departments, and acts as a liaison between them. It also includes the same tasks as a Claim Analyst: accurate adjudication and processing of medical, dental, vision or other related claims, with correspondence and electronic inquiries handled according to plan documents, processing guidelines and turnaround times.

Key responsibilities

• Secure and analyze claim information to make life and disability benefit determinations in line with policy provisions and applicable state and federal laws
• Calculate benefit payments and communicate claim decisions on new and continuing claims
• Provide responsive and caring customer service
• Advise team members on claim processing procedures

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Three years of prior medical claim processing experience, or the equivalent combination of relevant experience
• Minimum three years of life and/or disability claim administration experience, or equivalent
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, customer-centric environment with minimal supervision
• Strong math and decision-making skills
• Preferred: four-year college degree in a medical or business field, understanding of medical terminology

Required skills

• Analyze and interpret documents and Summary Plan Descriptions (SPDs)
• Adapt to various system platforms
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook; Access preferred
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
