Senior Civil Engineer - Site Development

About the role

Amentum, a global engineering and solutions provider, is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer for its Oak Ridge, TN office. The engineer leads the planning, design, permitting and execution of land development projects for commercial, industrial and institutional sites, coordinating with clients, agencies and multidisciplinary teams.

Key responsibilities

• Lead planning and design of site development projects, including grading, drainage, stormwater management, utilities, erosion and sediment control and roadway access
• Prepare and review civil calculations, technical reports, specifications and construction documents, ensuring compliance with federal, state and local regulations
• Provide quality control and technical oversight for junior engineers and designers
• Manage multiple projects, including scope, schedule, budget and resources, and develop work plans and manpower estimates
• Coordinate with clients, architects, surveyors, structural engineers, contractors and consultants, and support construction administration (RFIs, submittals, site visits)
• Lead permitting, prepare land development and zoning applications, and mentor junior engineers, EITs and CAD designers
• Support business development, client relationships and new project opportunities

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required
• 8-12 years of experience in civil engineering focused on site development
• Ability to obtain and maintain facility credentials; U.S. citizenship required for this location
• Preferred: ABET-accredited degree, Engineer of Record experience, mentoring experience, sustainable site design and LID experience

Required skills

• Site development design, permitting and construction processes
• Stormwater management design and hydrologic/hydraulic modeling
• AutoCAD Civil 3D, StormCAD, HydroCAD or similar
