Senior Building Performance Engineer

About the role

Altanova seeks a senior energy engineer to lead building performance initiatives across design, retrofit, and operations. The role focuses on high‑performance, sustainable real‑estate projects worldwide, driving energy efficiency and decarbonisation.

Key responsibilities

• Lead energy auditing and commissioning for major renovation and new‑construction projects.
• Develop and refine advanced whole‑building energy models to optimise performance and meet sustainability certifications such as LEED, WELL, and PHIUS.
• Collaborate with design and construction teams to ensure compliance with energy codes and green‑building standards.
• Conduct site inspections, system testing, and performance verification, providing detailed reports and recommendations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Mechanical Engineering, Building Science, or related field (PhD optional).
• Minimum 5 years of combined experience in building systems commissioning and energy modeling.
• Strong understanding of building physics, energy conservation codes, and ASHRAE standards.
• Professional Engineer license in New York State or willingness to obtain one within 12 months is a plus.

Required skills

• Proficiency with whole‑building energy modeling software: DesignBuilder, OpenStudio, IES‑VE, EnergyPlus, eQuest.
• Familiarity with ASHRAE certification programs (HBDP, BEMP, BEAP, BCxP) and AEE credentials (CEA, CEM, EBCP) is advantageous.
