Senior Bridge Engineer / Project Manager

About the role

Fuss & O’Neill is seeking an experienced Senior Bridge Engineer/Project Manager to lead bridge projects across Vermont, with occasional work in New Hampshire and Maine. The role combines deep technical expertise in bridge design with full‑cycle project management, from initial scoping through construction.

Key responsibilities

• Manage bridge rehabilitation, replacement, and transportation infrastructure projects for VTrans, municipalities, and other public sector clients.
• Serve as primary project manager, overseeing schedules, budgets, staffing, and resource allocation.
• Coordinate with highway and traffic design teams to deliver integrated transportation solutions.
• Ensure compliance with internal and client‑specific QA/QC standards.
• Provide technical leadership in bridge design, structural analysis, and constructability reviews.
• Maintain client relationships and support business development for Vermont transportation projects.
• Collaborate with regional teams across New England and assist in pursuing future VTrans contracts.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a concentration in Structural Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in Vermont, New Hampshire, or Maine, or ability to obtain one.
• 15+ years of progressive bridge design experience, preferably with Vermont projects.
• Proven experience managing bridge projects for state DOTs and municipal clients.
