Senior Bioinformatics Analyst

About the role

The Molecular and Cellular Pharmacology Department at the University of Miami is seeking a Senior Bioinformatics Analyst to join the team on‑site in Miami, FL. The role focuses on extending bioinformatics capabilities and advancing the understanding of genetic variation in human health and disease.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain next‑generation data analysis pipelines.
• Assist in the design, validation, and optimization of analysis algorithms.
• Extract biologically relevant features from large‑scale genomic datasets.
• Contribute to the creation and upkeep of genomic and clinical databases.
• Perform statistical and integrative analyses on genomics and clinical data.
• Supervise junior team members and other data analysts.
• Establish SOPs, documentation, and scripts for custom reporting.
• Prepare materials for bioinformatics tutorials and training courses.
• Evaluate and integrate third‑party bioinformatics tools.
• Ensure compliance with university policies and safeguard assets.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific or computational field.
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in bioinformatics or related research.
• Strong learning agility to adopt new technologies and protocols.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
