Senior Backend Software Engineer - Distributed Systems

About the role

Havoc AI is seeking a Senior Backend Software Engineer to design and build high‑performance, highly concurrent backend services that power its all‑domain autonomous platforms. The role is hands‑on, senior‑level, and focuses on creating distributed systems in Go that operate reliably in mission‑critical, real‑world environments.

Key responsibilities

• Own the technical direction and delivery of backend projects, setting engineering standards and conducting code reviews.
• Design, develop, and maintain scalable, highly concurrent services in Go, defining APIs, data models and service boundaries.
• Architect distributed, multi‑zone deployments that ensure high throughput, fault tolerance and real‑time operation.
• Optimize system performance, scalability and resilience; identify and resolve bottlenecks in concurrency‑heavy workloads.
• Improve observability, maintainability and operational readiness of services, ensuring high uptime.
• Collaborate with frontend, platform, autonomy and embedded teams to integrate backend capabilities across edge devices and cloud infrastructure.
• Enforce secure development practices and contribute to system‑level security posture.

Required profile

• Proven senior‑level experience building backend systems for high‑performance, mission‑critical applications.
• Strong judgment in architecture and design of distributed, highly concurrent services.
• Ability to work independently while driving technical excellence across a team.
• Excellent collaboration skills with cross‑functional engineering groups.
