Senior Backend Engineer - Tech Lead / Platform Architect

About the role

Deda, a technology group with operations in the United States, is hiring a Senior Backend Engineer for its US market. As Tech Lead or Architect, you own the technical design of one of its products and the quality of what its team ships. The products give US credit unions analytics, lending and marketing decisions based on their own core banking data, running on an open-source stack split between a private datacenter (where member data stays) and a public cloud.

Key responsibilities

• Break the product's architecture into components with clear responsibilities and set the interfaces between them (API contracts, events, data ownership)
• Review designs and code before they ship, set and hold team standards for testing, review and decision recording, and write code part of the time
• Decide when to adopt, wrap or write a component on the open-source stack, and record the reasoning behind each choice
• Own quality: test strategy, CI gates, performance and security review, release readiness, and give the product manager estimates and trade-offs
• Ensure tenant isolation, data residency and auditability so regulated decisions can be reconstructed for disputes or examiners
• In the platform architect post, own the datacenter-public cloud boundary, the multitenancy model, data governance and shared components, spending most time on design decisions
• Explain trade-offs to engineers and product managers and raise technical risks early with alternatives

Required profile

• Experience as a tech lead or architect, or as a senior engineer who held that role, owning the technical design of a production system end to end
• Hands-on engineering: writes production code and reviews others' code with authority
• Security by design: treats least privilege, tenant isolation, encryption, audit trails and data residency as design inputs
• Writes architecture down (decision records, diagrams, interface specs) and makes reasoned decisions

Required skills

• Backend stack: Java/Spring Boot and Python
• Relational modeling and SQL (PostgreSQL preferred)
• Cloud-native: Kubernetes, object storage, CI/CD, OIDC and OAuth2 (Keycloak preferred)
• Nice to have: hybrid datacenter-cloud architectures, financial services experience, Keycloak in depth, self-managed Kubernetes and PostgreSQL operators, Dagster, ML/LLM features, SOC 2 or ISO 27001 audits
