Senior Backend Engineer - Cloud Platform (US Market)

About the role

Deda, a technology group with operations in the United States, is hiring a Senior Backend Engineer (Cloud Platform Engineer) for its US market. You will own the cloud environment other engineers build on: Google Cloud, a legacy Oracle Cloud being retired, and bare-metal virtual machines in a US data centre. The role is platform and operations first, with reliability, toil reduction and governance (FinOps) in scope, and products handling US credit-union member data.

Key responsibilities

• Design landing zones on GCP, project and compartment structures, network topology and naming/tagging standards.
• Bring the bare-metal VM estate under configuration management (Ansible) and provision it via Terraform and Ansible, shipping through GitHub Actions CI.
• Build CI/CD pipelines and reusable workflows on GitHub Actions for infrastructure changes.
• Run and evolve Kubernetes, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Keycloak, SeaweedFS and Cloudflare, including capacity, backup/restore and disaster-recovery testing.
• Build Grafana dashboards, metrics, logs and alerting, and lead incident response.
• Design least-privilege IAM, manage secrets, harden network and edge exposure, and support SOC 2 and GLBA audits.
• Implement FinOps: tagging, ownership, showback, and catching orphaned resources early.
• Enable a small team shipping AI and data products (Vertex AI, async pipelines, file ingestion).

Required profile

• Significant hands-on experience with a major public cloud in production (GCP strongly preferred); prior OCI exposure is an advantage.
• Experience automating infrastructure beyond managed services (Ansible, image builds, bare-metal provisioning).
• Proven experience writing and maintaining real-world Terraform on a live estate.
• Production Kubernetes experience, including self-managed control planes.
• Fluency in at least one scripting language (Python preferred).
• Ownership of monitoring, alerting and incident response without a platform team behind you.
