Senior AWS Cloud Engineering Lead - VP

About the role

Barclays is hiring a Senior AWS Cloud Engineering Lead (VP level) for its Wholesale Lending business area, based in the Whippany, NJ office. The role focuses on architecting and shipping agentic workflows, RAG, tool calling and orchestration that shorten cycle times, raising quality and driving adoption with enterprise-grade governance from day one, and designing and scaling agents deployed on AWS EKS with privacy and controls built in.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and support secure, scalable AWS cloud infrastructure across multi-account environments, using IAM, VPC, Route 53, CloudFormation, EKS, Istio, OPA and Kubernetes.
• Implement and automate infrastructure provisioning with Infrastructure as Code, building reusable CloudFormation templates and standard deployment patterns.
• Lead cloud platform operations, monitoring, troubleshooting, vulnerability remediation and security compliance to keep business-critical applications highly available.
• Drive cloud cost optimization and DevOps practices by analysing consumption patterns and optimising AWS spend.
• Partner with application, infrastructure, security and business stakeholders to deliver cloud solutions and enable adoption of modern cloud, automation and AI-driven capabilities.
• Support operational teams with fault-finding and performance issues, assess solution impacts on risk, capacity and cost, and prepare architecture artefacts for governance processes.

Required profile

• Experience designing, building and supporting secure, scalable AWS cloud infrastructure across multi-account environments.
• Experience implementing Infrastructure as Code with reusable CloudFormation templates and standard deployment patterns.
• Experience leading cloud platform operations, monitoring, troubleshooting, vulnerability remediation and security compliance.
• Experience driving cloud cost optimization and DevOps practices.
• Ability to partner with stakeholders and provide technical leadership.

The advertised salary range is $170,000 to $230,000 base, and the position is eligible for an incentive award. Barclays offers medical, dental and vision coverage, 401(k), life insurance and other paid leave.
