Senior Auditor – Public Sector

About the role

The Campaign Finance Board is seeking a Senior Auditor to lead complex compliance, investigative and financial audits of political campaigns. This role supports the integrity of New York City’s matching‑funds program and ensures transparency in local elections.

Key responsibilities

• Perform complex compliance, investigative and financial audits of political campaigns.
• Analyze financial records and disclosure statements for both desk‑based and field audits.
• Conduct audits in accordance with Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards (GAGAS) and internal specialized programs.
• Manage a team of auditors, overseeing caseloads, deadlines and coordination with other CFB units.
• Supervise, train and evaluate auditors, providing guidance and performance feedback.
• Participate in post‑election planning activities and other audit‑related projects.
• Work overtime as needed to meet audit timelines.

Required profile

• Extensive experience conducting compliance, investigative and financial audits, preferably in the public or political‑campaign sector.
• Proven ability to lead and manage audit teams and meet strict deadlines.
• Willingness to work overtime to complete audit assignments.
• Strong understanding of audit standards and regulatory requirements.

Required skills

• Knowledge of Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards (GAGAS).
