Senior Assistant Director of Residential Success / Resident Director

About the role

Hofstra University in Hempstead, NY, is hiring a full-time, live-in/on-campus Senior Assistant Director of Residential Success / Resident Director (position 898114). The role manages the Residential Success Program, which supports about 200 campus residents in living environments that promote student learning and academic success. It also oversees the hiring and training of the student team and ensures they follow departmental and institutional policies. The position works some nights and weekends for campus events and on-call duty.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and develop about 95 staff members, including Resident Success Representatives, Resident Assistants and a Graduate Assistant, and coordinate their recruitment, training and scheduling
• Manage a residential area of about 200 residents, including building operations and occupancy, and oversee RA-led residence hall programs
• Provide leadership in resolving resident concerns and administer the Restricted Access and Banned List
• Oversee the Resident Success email, calendar and website, and the guest-management process through Slate and StarRez
• Manage RSR and residence hall budgets, including labor, supplies, technology, training and programming; manage facilities and occupancy with the Graduate Assistant
• Oversee the RSR booth T-Monitor system and assist with StarRez eRCR processing, upgrades and training
• Support departmental initiatives, respond to urgent student, facility, staffing and operational matters, and handle crisis response

Required profile

• Master's degree required
• 2-3 years of supervisory experience
• Effective interpersonal, organizational and time management skills
• Detail oriented, with good judgment and discretion handling sensitive information
