Senior Architecture Manager - Data Centers & Mission Critical Infrastructure

About the role

Amentum is seeking a highly experienced Senior Architecture Manager to lead the planning, design management, technical coordination and delivery of hyperscale and mission-critical data center projects. Acting as the architectural authority across the full project lifecycle, the role oversees architectural consultants and coordinates with electrical, mechanical, controls, telecommunications and construction teams so that designs meet operational reliability, constructability, sustainability, security, scalability and maintainability. The Senior Architecture Manager also serves as the primary architectural representative for clients and stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Lead architectural programming, planning and design management for new construction, campus expansions, retrofits and upgrades, and set design criteria and standards
• Review and approve architectural deliverables, specifications, reports, calculations and design documentation
• Plan and design hyperscale, colocation, enterprise and mission-critical data centers, including space planning for electrical rooms, mechanical plants, security operations and loading areas
• Coordinate architectural teams with structural, civil, electrical, mechanical, controls, telecommunications and construction teams, resolve design conflicts and manage schedules, budgets and resources
• Act as architectural lead during construction and commissioning, review RFIs, submittals, change requests and shop drawings, and conduct site inspections
• Ensure compliance with the International Building Code, local zoning, ADA, life safety, fire protection and corporate design standards, and lead risk assessments and constructability evaluations
• Incorporate sustainable design and energy efficiency, support LEED, WELL or similar goals, and evaluate modular construction and innovative materials
• Support commissioning, integrated systems testing and operational readiness, and mentor junior architects and designers
• Advise clients, developers and operators, lead architectural consultants and external partners, and present design solutions to executive stakeholders

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture from an accredited institution
• Licensed Architect (RA) in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
• Minimum 10 years of architecture, design management or project leadership experience
• Minimum 5 years supporting mission-critical, technology, industrial, healthcare, laboratory or large-scale infrastructure projects
• Experience managing multiple concurrent projects from concept through construction completion
• Authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship

• Preferred: Tier III and Tier IV facility requirements, Uptime Institute standards, BIM/Revit, LEED AP, PMP, and experience with hyperscale operators such as Microsoft, Meta, Google, AWS, Oracle, Equinix, Digital Realty, CyrusOne, QTS or Vantage
