Senior AI Systems Engineer, Advanced Concepts

About the role

As a Senior AI Systems Engineer on the Advanced Systems team, you will design AI‑enabled engineering systems that accelerate electric aircraft development from concept through flight test, working closely with domain engineers and cross‑functional stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Define architecture and technical roadmap for AI‑enabled decision‑support systems.
• Translate engineering workflows into AI capabilities with clear inputs, outputs, and success metrics.
• Architect agents, retrieval, model services, APIs, data pipelines, evaluation, observability, and deployment infrastructure.
• Integrate controlled engineering data while preserving access control, provenance, and auditability.
• Establish evaluation methods for accuracy, robustness, latency, and cost.
• Develop AI tools that synthesize evidence, identify risks, and automate routine work.
• Coordinate with AI/ML, computational design, IT, cybersecurity, legal, and program leadership.
• Deploy and sustain reusable capabilities, monitor performance drift, and manage incidents.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, machine learning, systems engineering, aerospace engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years delivering AI, machine‑learning, data, or complex systems into production with independent architecture ownership.
• Experience integrating models, agents, retrieval, APIs, data pipelines, and enterprise data sources.
• Strong ability to explain technical limitations, uncertainty, and risk to engineering leadership.
• Must be a US Person.

Required skills

• Python (or equivalent language) development.
• Cloud deployment, containers, automated testing, source control.
• Model evaluation, access control, data provenance, security, change control, failure‑handling practices.
• Experience with AI/ML pipelines, APIs, and data integration.
