Senior Aerospace Technical Writer

About the role

BETA Technologies is seeking a senior aerospace technical writer with deep expertise in S1000D to create and maintain engine and aircraft manuals for electric aviation. The role involves close collaboration with engineers, illustrators, and subject‑matter experts in a dynamic, inclusive environment.

Key responsibilities

• Write, peer‑review, and edit technical manuals compliant with S1000D and ASD‑STE100 Simplified Technical English.
• Manage effectivity and applicability using S1000D tools and CSDB administration.
• Extract technical data from engineering drawings, specifications, and CAD models.
• Coordinate with illustrators to provide mark‑ups and graphic information.
• Track document workflow using collaboration tools and meet project deadlines.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree (engineering or aerospace background is a plus).
• At least five years of experience authoring S1000D documentation for aerospace, including CSDB administration and peer‑review.
• Demonstrated experience with FAA/EASA‑approved technical publications.
• Strong verbal and written communication, critical thinking, and problem‑solving abilities.

Required skills

• S1000D specification and ASD‑STE100 compliance.
• XML authoring and CSDB management.
• Proficiency with Microsoft SharePoint, Slack, Jira/Confluence.
• Ability to extract and validate technical data from engineering drawings and CAD models.
