Senior Accountant – Newport Beach

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Accountant to join our finance team in Newport Beach, California. The successful candidate will lead core accounting functions, ensure accurate financial records, and support timely month‑end and year‑end reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Manage recurring lease and rent accounting entries and ensure accurate general ledger posting.
• Prepare and submit sales and use tax filings on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis, maintaining supporting documentation.
• Monitor capital spending, evaluate fixed‑asset classification, and coordinate depreciation recording.
• Calculate and post depreciation expense according to company policy.
• Record payroll‑related journal entries, including compensation, benefits, retirement contributions, and incentives.
• Complete intercompany elimination entries for consolidated financial reporting.
• Analyze financial activity and prepare month‑end accruals.
• Assist with year‑end audit preparation, gathering schedules and reconciling balances.
• Perform account analysis and reconciliations, including bank reconciliations.

Required profile

• Extensive experience supporting month‑end close activities in a senior accounting capacity.
• Strong working knowledge of general ledger accounting, journal entry preparation, and account reconciliation.
• Proven ability to complete bank reconciliations and resolve variances promptly.
• Familiarity with fixed‑asset accounting, capitalization review, and depreciation.
• Understanding of payroll‑related accounting entries and employee benefit expense recognition.
• Knowledge of sales‑tax filing requirements and compliance reporting.
• High level of accuracy, organization, and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
