Senior Accountant – Corporate Accounting (Long‑term Contract)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to support corporate accounting operations for a client in Virginia. This long‑term contract role offers the chance to lead critical close activities, maintain accurate financial records, and ensure the integrity of reporting processes in a fast‑paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead key components of the monthly close cycle, meeting deadlines and ensuring accurate financial data recording.
• Prepare and post journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation.
• Maintain and analyze general ledger activity, identify variances, and resolve discrepancies.
• Perform recurring account reconciliations and investigate outstanding items to resolution.
• Complete bank reconciliations and ensure cash‑related transactions are properly reflected.
• Partner with stakeholders to improve accounting workflows and support corporate finance priorities.
• Review financial information for consistency and compliance with internal accounting standards and policies.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in senior‑level accounting roles with responsibility for corporate accounting activities.
• Strong working knowledge of month‑end close procedures and general ledger management.
• Experience in preparing journal entries and reconciling balance‑sheet accounts.
• Hands‑on experience completing bank reconciliations and resolving related discrepancies.
• Ability to analyze financial data carefully and maintain a high level of accuracy in reporting.
• Prior experience in a corporate or private‑equity‑backed company is a plus; public‑accounting experience is also a plus.
