Security Professional - Outdoor Patrol

About the role

Allied Universal, a security and facility services company, is hiring a Security Professional Flex Officer in Los Angeles, California, at $20.00 per hour. The officer patrols exterior perimeters and serves clients in industries such as healthcare, education and finance. Shifts are chosen through a shift-pickup platform, and irregular shifts with little or no advance notice may be required.

Key responsibilities

• Patrol designated areas on foot or in a vehicle and watch for irregular or unusual conditions
• Sound alarms or call police or fire departments in case of fire or unauthorized persons
• Warn violators of rules such as loitering, smoking or carrying forbidden articles
• Permit authorized persons to enter, monitor entrances and exits, and observe departing personnel to prevent theft
• Investigate accidents, incidents and suspicious activity, prepare reports and maintain written logs
• Aid customers, employees and visitors courteously and make emergency notifications as required by site orders

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent, or 5 years of verifiable experience; no prior experience required
• At least 18 years old (21 if armed); licensing may be required depending on state or local law
• Valid driver's license if driving a company or customer-owned vehicle
• Background investigation and drug screen as a condition of employment
• Preferred: ability to speak, read and write multiple languages, and prior security, military or law enforcement experience

• Ability to operate radio or telephone equipment and/or console monitors
• Effective oral and written communication, active listening and problem-solving
• Ability to mediate conflict with tact and diplomacy
