Security Officer – Health Center

About the role

Incumbents work under the direction of the Chief Security Officer or designee to protect residents, patients, staff and the public while securing the property and grounds of the Douglas County Health Center.

Key responsibilities

• Patrol and monitor the campus and assigned properties to prevent fire, theft, vandalism and unauthorized intruders.
• Respond to emergency and medical codes, crisis situations and assist with psychiatric patient admissions, including searching, restraining and providing security until assessments are completed.
• Monitor alarm panels, conduct monthly checks of panic alarms and fire equipment, and participate in fire and disaster drills.
• Enforce parking regulations, ensure clear access for emergency vehicles, and investigate and document illegal activity or accidents.
• Maintain incident reports, security camera footage backups and other records, and operate a motor vehicle safely when required.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum two years experience in law enforcement or security with public contact.
• Completion of training in Psychiatric/Behavioral/Emergency (Code 55), Pressure Point Control Tactics and Crisis Prevention within six months of hire, with annual refreshers.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to pass pre‑employment criminal background check, drug screen and physical assessment.
• Preferred experience in mental‑health care facilities and proficiency with Microsoft Office.
