Security Officer - Armed with Sign‑On Bonus

About the role

Ochsner Health is seeking an Armed Security Officer to protect patients, guests, and employees at its Lafayette campus. The role involves maintaining a safe environment, enforcing policies, and responding to emergencies while upholding the organization’s commitment to compassionate care.

Key responsibilities

• Enforce all company safety and security rules, conduct routine inspections of on‑site and off‑site locations, and perform opening/lockdown procedures for buildings.
• Investigate accidents and incidents, report occurrences promptly, and participate in emergency response and preparedness drills.
• Maintain required certifications, complete training within specified timeframes, and adapt interactions to respect patient privacy and needs.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent and at least 1 year of experience in security, law enforcement, or the military.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean DMV record, Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, and ability to obtain IAHSS certification within 90 days of hire.
• Ability to continuously walk the facility, including stairs in an 11‑floor building, and to communicate effectively in English.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Windows‑style applications and data‑entry tasks.
• Computer and keyboard dexterity for information retrieval.
• Firearms handling and crisis prevention/intervention training.
