Security Manager

About the role

Fairstead, a real estate firm focused on affordable housing, is hiring a Security Manager in Brooklyn. The role covers strategy and activities for information security and physical security of the property, leading a team that designs and implements an enterprise security strategy, program and architecture that minimises information loss and meets client and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in loss control procedures and coordinate information between the VP and supervisors and the security staff.
• Develop security staff through training and example, and supervise shift activity including reports, incidents, patrolling, dispatching and activity logs.
• Lead investigations of security matters, monitor shift reports and activity logs, and relay pertinent information to the relief shift.
• Coach, counsel and review guards' performance, make recommendations on security matters, and observe and report security breaches.
• Ensure compliance with Facility Management and Security SOPs and LSOps, and assist the GM where applicable.
• Make periodic community patrols of guard areas, package rooms, outer perimeters, parking lots and resident-access facilities.
• Maintain first aid and CPR certification, know fire procedures, and be able to administer first aid and apply apprehension and arrest procedures in line with state law.
• Recognise and report safety hazards, monitor energy conservation controls, and maintain effective communication with managers and employees.

Required profile

• At least 3-5 years of related experience.
• Strong working knowledge of relevant law and the law enforcement community.
• Experience with business continuity planning, investigations and risk management.
• Valid NY State Security License and First Aid and CPR certification.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, accuracy and attention to detail.

Required skills

• Knowledge of information technology and information security.
• Ability to assess immediate security needs and handle confidential security issues.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
