Security Guard (Full Time) - Los Angeles Convention Center

About the role

The Los Angeles Convention Center, a venue for conventions, trade shows and exhibitions in downtown Los Angeles, is hiring a full-time Security Guard. The guard promotes and ensures security and safety at the center and provides direction, safety and security for event-related activities. The position is closely supervised, involves routine tasks and does not involve supervising others. It is an onsite role with a base salary of $21.00 per hour.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to security needs and calls for service, working with security and local law enforcement as necessary
• Provide customer service to guests and team members while monitoring crowd flow and point-of-sale transactions in parking garages or around the facility
• Work with operations staff and other departments to manage crowds in changing event environments
• Conduct regular inspections of all LACC areas and rotate posts as assigned
• Write reports on malfunctions, misconduct and safety issues, and interview victims and witnesses when needed
• Assist with public safety plans for day-to-day operations and special events
• Follow policies and procedures to keep the venue, loading dock and perimeters secure
• Guide Guest Services Representatives and outside security contractors when necessary

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED
• Valid California/BSIS Guard Card
• Flexibility to work nights, weekends and holidays as necessary
• Able to stand, walk, climb or balance, and to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds occasionally
• Ability to work outdoors and wear PPE when required
