Security Engineer

About the role

Cognition is an applied AI lab building end‑to‑end software agents, including Devin, the first AI software engineer. As a Security Engineer you will define and implement security for AI‑native developer tools that execute untrusted code at massive scale.

Key responsibilities

• Design and harden sandboxing, isolation, and runtime controls for safe execution of untrusted code.
• Lead threat modeling, secure design reviews, and vulnerability management for products and underlying infrastructure.
• Build internal security tooling for secrets management, identity & access, dependency security, and detection pipelines.
• Run incident response, develop detection pipelines, and turn events into systemic improvements.
• Partner with go‑to‑market and legal teams to support compliance and customer‑trust initiatives.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience across product security, infrastructure security, and detection/response.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals with ability to write production‑grade code.
• Practical experience securing Kubernetes, cloud platforms, and multi‑tenant compute environments.
• Experience hardening modern web applications and performing threat modeling.
• Calm, methodical approach to incident response and continuous improvement.
