Security Engineer, 2027 Graduate (Seattle)

About the role

Atlassian's Grad++ program is a graduate program combining hands-on technical training, professional growth, mentorship and social connections. This Security Engineer position is part of the Security team, which protects products, customers and the systems used daily by combining software engineering, security research and investigation. The role is hybrid in Seattle, WA, and requires willingness to work out of that location; it is not eligible for F1/J1 students or work sponsorship.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, test and maintain tools and automation that help teams find security weaknesses, investigate findings and prioritize risks, with increasing independence.
• Conduct security research, analyze results, distinguish actionable findings from false positives and communicate their impact.
• Use AI-assisted coding and research tools while validating their outputs, and build AI-assisted security capabilities or investigate risks in AI-enabled systems.
• Contribute to ongoing security operations, maintain documentation and improve team tools and workflows.
• Collaborate with security and software engineers through design discussions, code reviews and regular feedback, and document your solutions so others can use and maintain them.

Required profile

• Full-time undergraduate or master's student in Computer Science or a related technical field, graduating by August 2027.
• Demonstrated interest in security through coursework, work or internship experience, or personal projects.
• Willingness to work out of Seattle, WA.

Required skills

• Familiarity with Java, Python, JavaScript or other object-oriented programming languages.
• Knowledge of data structures and common design patterns.
• Preferred: hands-on security investigation experience, exposure to application, cloud, identity and access, endpoint or data protection security, and experience with AI-assisted development tools or LLM APIs.

• Base pay for new hires in the Seattle area ranging from $110,556 to $173,900 depending on the pay zone.
