Security Data Classification Intern

About the role

HCSC offers a ten-week paid internship in Richardson, TX for a Security Data Classification Intern. The role sits within a formal internship program that gives students hands-on experience supporting business objectives and member-focused solutions, working with cross-functional business and technical teams. The internship includes a final presentation to department leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Own parts of project work and deliverables with guidance from an assigned mentor and manager.
• Research, analyze data and information, and develop recommendations that inform real business decisions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and support initiatives that improve business outcomes and the member and client experience.
• Learn and apply aspects of the organization's processes, programs and technologies, growing in independence and ownership.
• Deliver a final internship presentation covering the project, results and recommendations.
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA, Diversity Principles, Corporate Integrity and applicable compliance policies.

Required profile

• Pursuing a bachelor's degree; rising senior in data analytics, computer science or information technology (other majors may be considered).
• Graduation between December 2027 and June 2028.
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0.
• Available for the full 10-week program.
• Unrestricted work authorization in the United States; sponsorship is not available.

Required skills

• Strong analytical mindset, problem-solving and communication skills.
• Attention to detail, data quality mindset and entrepreneurial initiative.
• Interest in the healthcare industry and regulated environments.
• PC skills, especially Excel, Word and Access.
• Plus: data architecture, high-volume data integration, programming and systems analysis, AI networks, application configuration and feature design.

• Base pay of $19.13 - $34.17, varying with skills, experience and location.
