Section Chief, Environmental Operations

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to lead the Environmental Dredging and Restoration Group within the Environmental Operations division of Maryland Environmental Service. The Section Chief will guide a team that delivers environmental solutions to public and private clients across Maryland.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, direct, manage, and prioritize work at the Section level.
• Ensure all services are cost‑effective, efficient, and compliant with client and regulatory requirements.
• Lead business development, labor management, technical writing, strategic planning, project management, and inter‑agency coordination.
• Oversee projects related to dredged material management and innovative beneficial reuse.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental sciences, engineering, or a related field.
• At least eight years of experience in environmental science, regulations, engineering, or natural resource management.
• Minimum five years of experience managing environmental projects and supervising professional and technical staff.
• Advanced degree may substitute for up to two years of required experience.
