Seafood Service/Meat Manager

About the role

Hy-Vee is hiring a Seafood Service/Meat Manager in Clinton. The manager presents fresh seafood and meat products at competitive prices, trains employees, writes work schedules, displays merchandise and manages the department according to company guidelines. Night and weekend shifts are required.

Key responsibilities

• Set department standards for customer service, employee relations, cleanliness, sanitation, appearance and profitability, and train, supervise, discipline and evaluate employees.
• Determine weekly schedules and daily work plans, and inspect signage and displays and order product for replenishment.
• Answer phones, take product orders and handle customer issues; learn customers' names and assist them.
• Analyze weekly and monthly sales and trends, prepare ad projections and write ads, and plan displays and promotions.
• Ensure proper temperatures and storage to control shrink, figure retail pricing, and troubleshoot equipment.
• Conduct inventory, attend meetings and seminars, and fill displays and check in delivered merchandise.

Required profile

• High school or equivalent education and food safety training.
• Over three years up to five years of similar or related work experience.
• Ability to solve practical problems, do arithmetic with fractions, decimals and percentages, and follow technical manuals.
• Supervisory authority over direct reports, including recommending transfers, discharge and salary increases.
• Physical ability to lift up to 100 pounds occasionally, 50 pounds frequently and 10 pounds constantly, and to climb, balance, kneel, reach and stand.

Working conditions include exposure to dirt, noise, temperature extremes, cleaning chemicals and equipment hazards, and the use of knives, slicers, scales, a computer and a C.A.R.S. reordering system. Employment is contingent on a pre-employment drug screen.
