Scientist II – Data Science (Oncology Bioinformatics)

About the role

Servier, a Boston‑based biopharmaceutical company, is seeking a Scientist II to join its Data Science team. The role focuses on next‑generation sequencing (NGS) data analysis for multiple oncology programs, translating bioinformatics results into biological insights and testable hypotheses.

Key responsibilities

• Design, analyze, and interpret genomic studies in exploratory and clinical oncology programs.
• Develop and maintain NGS analysis workflows using WDL, CWL, or Nextflow.
• Implement new bioinformatics methods, assess performance, and visualize results.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to propose experiments and generate patient‑selection hypotheses.
• Identify novel cancer targets, combination strategies, and publish findings.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Computational Biology, Biology, Statistics, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in drug discovery or translational oncology settings.
• Strong publication record demonstrating translation of bioinformatics analyses into biological insights.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills, able to work independently or within a small team.

Required skills

• Processing and analysis of NGS data (RNA‑seq, DNA‑seq, DNA methylation).
• Proficiency with workflow languages: WDL, CWL, Nextflow.
• Programming in R/Bioconductor, Python, SQL, Unix, and cluster computing environments.
• Data visualization using ggplot2, RStudio Connect, or Shiny.
• Experience with TCGA and other public oncology datasets, cell‑line and in‑vivo shRNA/CRISPR screens.
