Scientist - Cellular Immunology Preclinical (CAR T Cell Assays)

About the role

Cabaletta Bio is recruiting a Scientist with expertise in cell-based assays for CAR T cell therapy to join its research and development team in Philadelphia, PA. The scientist will develop in vitro, ex vivo and in vivo assays that help improve the safety and efficacy of CAR T cells in preclinical settings, supporting clinical trials of rese-cel (an investigational CD19-CAR T cell therapy) in lupus, myositis, systemic sclerosis and pemphigus vulgaris.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct hands-on laboratory experiments following established protocols to maintain, expand, bank and manage cell lines and generate CAR T cells
• Perform and validate cytotoxicity and flow cytometry assays
• Perform and validate ELISpot, ELISA, Luminex, MSD and other assays as needed
• Follow laboratory safety policies and SOPs, and oversee in vivo mouse studies and related ex vivo assays
• Maintain laboratory equipment and workspaces, and keep accurate records and an electronic laboratory notebook
• Analyze data using basic statistical methods and software tools
• Work in a multidisciplinary team and communicate results through written reports and oral presentations

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Immunology, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology or a related field with 0-2 years of experience, or a Master's degree with at least 5 years, or a Bachelor's degree with at least 10 years of relevant experience
• Hands-on experience with cell culture and basic molecular biology techniques
• Prior experience with mammalian cell culture, primary cell husbandry, cytotoxicity assays and flow cytometry
• Experience in a research or industry setting related to immunology and/or cell therapy, or in biotechnology or a startup, is advantageous
• Organized, able to work independently and learn new techniques; strong written and verbal communication skills
