Scientist 3, Translational Oncology & Flow Cytometry

About the role

Genentech is looking for a Scientist 3 in translational oncology and flow cytometry in South San Francisco. The role generates high-quality, reproducible data to move exploratory oncology targets toward clinical development, designs and runs complex flow cytometry experiments, and acts as a key technical resource for the team.

Key responsibilities

• Design, execute and analyze complex flow cytometry experiments
• Build, optimize and troubleshoot large multicolor flow cytometry panels for deep immunophenotyping
• Analyze challenging samples with high precision, including low cell count samples
• Perform routine cell culture with primary cells and established cell lines
• Collaborate across project teams to share insights, present data and support strategic decisions

Required profile

• PhD in Immunology, Oncology or a closely related field; postdoctoral experience is a plus
• Proven expertise in advanced flow cytometry, including large multicolor panels and low-input samples
• Solid immunology background and hands-on experience with primary cell and cell line cultures
• Meticulous attention to detail and strong communication and teamwork skills
• Preferred: experience in cell therapy and in vivo mouse models

What we offer

• Expected salary range of $103,400 - $192,000 depending on experience, qualifications and location; relocation is not available
• A discretionary annual bonus may be available
