Scientist 3, Single Cell & Functional Genomics

About the role

The Department of Cell and Tissue Genomics is looking for a Scientist 3 to run single-cell and functional genomic experiments on cancer biology. The role involves high-throughput screens, single-cell profiling of primary tissues and analysis of genomic data, working with colleagues in Research Oncology, Translational Medicine and Computational Sciences. It is hands-on, with both experimental and computational work.

Key responsibilities

• Perform high-throughput screens in cancer cell lines and models
• Develop and apply single-cell technologies to profile primary tissue samples
• Analyze and interpret single-cell perturbation data and broader genomic data
• Collaborate with teams within the department and across the wider organization
• Communicate results through high-impact publications and presentations
• Help identify new research opportunities and technology applications

Required profile

• Doctorate in a relevant field such as molecular biology, cancer biology, genetics, immunology, systems biology, developmental biology, biochemistry or biomedical engineering
• Hands-on experience performing and analyzing single-cell CRISPR screens
• Sustained record of productivity through publications and patents
• Preferred: experience with epigenomic assays and data analysis, and experience in cancer biology research

Required skills

• Analysis of single-cell and genomic data using R and/or Python
• Strong foundation in NGS assays and molecular biology techniques
• Excellent oral and written presentation skills
• Able to manage multiple projects in parallel and lead research projects

What we offer

• Expected salary range of $103,400 - $192,000 for the California location, depending on experience and qualifications
• Possible discretionary annual bonus
