About the role

The Hanna Lab in the Department of Immunology at Genentech is looking for a Scientist 3 to study novel biological mechanisms and potential therapeutic targets for inflammatory diseases. The successful candidate will lead projects that advance understanding of T cell biology, focusing on immunoregulatory mechanisms that restore immune and tissue homeostasis during inflammation.

Key responsibilities

• Lead innovative research projects on T cell biology and immunoregulatory pathways.
• Drive pipeline programs from discovery toward early clinical development by generating robust proof-of-concept data.
• Design and run experiments using primary cell isolation, multi-dimensional flow cytometry and complex disease models.
• Identify and validate new therapeutic targets for inflammatory diseases.
• Collaborate with colleagues in human genetics, biomarker discovery and early clinical development.
• Present findings regularly at intra- and inter-departmental meetings.

Required profile

• PhD in Immunology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or a related field with a strong publication record.
• Hands-on expertise in cellular and molecular immunology techniques, including primary cell isolation, multi-dimensional flow cytometry, in vitro immunological assays and in vivo animal models.
• Experience independently designing, running and interpreting complex experiments.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills in a team-oriented lab; curiosity and passion for basic science.
• Preferred: T cell biology and/or mucosal immunology experience, and experience with genomic sequencing, scRNA-seq, TCR-seq, CITE-seq or spatial transcriptomics data.

What we offer

• Salary range of $103,400 - $192,000 for the California location, depending on experience and qualifications.
• A possible discretionary annual bonus based on individual and company performance.
• Relocation can be offered.
