School Effectiveness Specialist

About the role

The Georgia Department of Education is seeking a School Effectiveness Specialist to provide coaching and capacity‑building support to principals, assistant principals, leadership teams, instructional coaches, department chairs, and teachers across the Northern Region. The role focuses on improving leadership and instruction through data‑driven planning and professional learning.

Key responsibilities

• Assist schools in implementing the Georgia Standards of Excellence and state content standards.
• Plan and support school/system improvement using qualitative and quantitative data.
• Design and deliver professional learning aligned with identified needs and priorities.
• Build professional learning communities that focus on school improvement.
• Conduct in‑person and virtual coaching sessions and monitor progress via an electronic platform.
• Travel regionally and statewide as required.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in education, education administration, or a related field.
• At least five years of increasing leadership experience in a K‑12 setting, preferably as a principal or district office leader.
• Experience as a classroom teacher and successful coaching of new and experienced teachers.
• GaPSC professional educator certificate in educational leadership (Level L‑5, L‑6, or L‑7) and an Education Specialist degree or higher.
• Demonstrated ability to work with district or state school‑improvement initiatives, especially in Math or Literacy/ELA.
• Strong knowledge of best practices in leadership and standards‑based instruction.
