School Bus and Van Driver

About the role

The School Bus and Van Driver provides safe transportation for students and staff at St. Anne’s Episcopal School. This seasonal, hourly position works approximately 15‑24 hours per week during the school session, with required availability in the early morning and late afternoon.

Key responsibilities

• Drive a school bus or van on designated routes, adhering to schedules and state transportation regulations.
• Perform vehicle inspections, report mechanical issues, and keep the bus/van in safe operating condition.
• Maintain cleanliness of the interior in line with Covid‑19 guidelines, including floors, seats, windows, and trash removal.
• Ensure student order and discipline on board, citing behavior infractions and communicating issues as required.
• Report safety‑related incidents and follow emergency evacuation procedures.
• Secure vehicles after each use and be flexible to drive vans for school‑related activities.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum six months of school bus driving experience or relevant vocational training.
• Valid CDL with passenger (P) and student (S) endorsements for bus drivers; clean driver’s license for van drivers.
• Ability to remain calm and take charge in emergency situations.
• Capability to work effectively with students, staff, and local law‑enforcement.
• Pass an annual physical exam specific to school bus driving and provide a clean driving record for the past five years.

Required skills

• Valid CDL with passenger and student endorsements.
• Clean driver’s license.
