Sales Trainee - Southwest Region

About the role

Tyler Union, the nation's leading manufacturer of ductile iron waterworks fittings and accessories, is seeking a Sales Trainee for the Southwest region. Training takes place at the foundry in Anniston, AL and covers foundry operations, manufacturing, quality control, shipping, inside sales and customer service. After completing training, the trainee relocates to an open territory; relocation is required.

Key responsibilities

• Follow Tyler Union's Safety Management Program procedures and report deviations to management
• Travel the territory to build relationships with distributors, municipalities, engineers and water companies, and attend trade shows
• Conduct product presentations, enter sales data into the database and respond to customer inquiries
• Identify and resolve customer issues on products, deliveries and service
• Rotate through sales office functions, assist sales reps in acquiring new business and call existing and new clients
• Provide quotes, prepare and distribute sales materials, update customer records and process orders
• Gather customer feedback, take part in sales meetings and training, and work toward sales targets

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
• Ability to work in a team and independently, and to handle multiple projects
• Strong oral, written and presentation skills, and good organizational and administrative skills
• Customer-focused mindset and strong desire to succeed in sales
• Waterworks industry knowledge is a strong plus

Required skills

• Basic PC operation; Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint preferred
• ERP system experience is a plus
• During foundry training, safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection and hard hats are required
