Safety Hazmat Technician – Full-Time

About the role

R+L Carriers has an immediate opening for a Safety Hazmat Technician at its Burlington, NJ service‑center office. Reporting to the Director of Safety, the technician will handle emergency response, hazardous‑material clean‑up, site remediation, equipment decontamination, and related duties.

Key responsibilities

• Perform emergency response and hazardous‑material clean‑up.
• Conduct site remediation and equipment decontamination.
• Handle both hazardous and non‑hazardous materials safely.
• Audit incoming and outgoing hazardous‑material shipments for compliance.
• Lead safety procedures, containerize waste, and complete safety documentation.
• Set up and participate in live training events for personnel competency.
• Update job notes daily and promptly inform management of issues.
• Coach co‑workers on unsafe behaviors and participate in scheduled projects.

Required profile

• 40‑hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification.
• Physically fit and able to lift up to 75 lb.
• Ability to thrive in a high‑pressure, fast‑paced team environment.
• Exceptional interpersonal, customer‑service, and problem‑solving skills.
• Proven ability to work confidentially and handle multiple detailed tasks.

Required skills

• OSHA HAZWOPER certification (40 hour).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook.
• Experience operating tools used in emergency‑response activities.
