Safety Hazmat Technician – $75k-$85k

About the role

R+L Carriers is seeking a Safety Hazmat Technician to join its Ypsilanti, MI service center. Reporting to the Director of Safety, you will support emergency response, hazardous material clean‑up, and site remediation while ensuring compliance with safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to emergency incidents involving hazardous and non‑hazardous materials.
• Perform equipment decontamination, waste containerization, and safety documentation.
• Audit incoming and outgoing hazardous shipments for regulatory compliance.
• Lead safety practices during live training events and specialized projects.
• Maintain daily job notes and communicate issues promptly to management.

Required profile

• 40‑hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification.
• Physically fit, able to lift up to 75 lb.
• Strong interpersonal and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to work under high pressure in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment.
