Room Service Supervisor

About the role

The Room Service Ambassador Supervisor leads a team that provides patient‑focused food service in a hospital setting. Acting as the point person for the room‑service model, the supervisor ensures meals meet physician‑prescribed diets, allergies, and patient preferences while delivering excellent customer service.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise 4‑5 full‑time equivalents and 2 PRN staff, sharing duties with the Assistant Director of Patient Foods Services.
• Perform all duties of a Room Service Ambassador, including assisting patients with menu selection and handling a high call volume.
• Monitor and manage the call queue, providing support to operators, dietitians, and clinical staff.
• Coordinate daily lunch/break assignments and maintain time‑and‑attendance records for call‑center staff.
• Train new call‑center operators and deliver updates on policy or procedural changes.
• Conduct 90‑day evaluations for new hires and assist with annual performance reviews.
• Collaborate with campus departments to ensure seamless patient food service operations.

Required profile

• High School Diploma plus at least two years of relevant experience.
• Strong verbal communication and customer‑focus orientation.
• Specialized training in customer service, healthcare service, or food service; college coursework in clinical nutrition may substitute for experience.

Required skills

• Basic computer and keyboard proficiency.
• Familiarity with office equipment such as printers and copiers.
