Roadway Engineer – Technical Lead

About the role

RDA is looking for a motivated Roadway Engineer to lead technical efforts on transportation projects across Virginia. This position blends hands‑on design work with mentorship of junior engineers, offering a fast‑track to technical leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Develop roadway designs, plan sets, and supporting documentation for VDOT and local agency projects.
• Prepare engineering calculations, cost estimates, and construction documents that meet industry standards and client requirements.
• Collaborate with engineers, planners, clients, and stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and designers.
• Support project delivery activities while expanding technical and project responsibilities.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Transportation, or related engineering field.
• 4–6 years of transportation or roadway engineering experience.
• Virginia PE license or EIT with ability to obtain PE within one year.
• Familiarity with VDOT standards and project delivery processes preferred.
