RN Med/Surg Days Contract (36 hrs/wk)

About the role

AdventHealth is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Med/Surg days contract of 36 hours per week in Deland, Florida. StaffFlex nurses work contract assignments at one facility or float within multiple hospitals across 9 states, with flexible assignments and direct employment through AdventHealth.

Key responsibilities

• Assess patients, collect and document health data, and develop individualized, evidence-based plans of care
• Implement interventions safely and timely, and document actions taken
• Follow hospital policy for patient admission, discharge and transfer, and promote timely patient placement
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, and educate patients and families on their conditions and care plans
• Participate in peer interviewing and peer review, and contribute to quality, safety and effectiveness initiatives
• Act as a patient advocate, ensure proper use of medical supplies and equipment, and ensure safe handoff communication
• Follow CDC isolation guidelines, use PPE correctly, perform hand hygiene and enforce safety regulations

Required profile

• Registered Nurse (RN)
• 2+ years of nursing experience in an acute hospital setting
• Associate's degree in Nursing (required); Bachelor's degree preferred
• Fluent in English (reading, speaking and writing)
• High-level abstract reasoning to assess patients and revise plans of care
• BLS/CPR certification (required); TNCC certification preferred
• Additional licensure or certification may apply depending on unit or state

Required skills

• Basic computer skills, navigating Microsoft Windows programs
• Ability to use abstract reasoning to assess patients and adjust plans of care
