Respiratory Therapist – Full Time Nights

About the role

Palestine Regional Medical Center, a 150‑bed community hospital in Palestine, TX, is seeking a full‑time Respiratory Therapist for night‑shift coverage. The role involves delivering comprehensive respiratory care to patients of all ages, supporting the hospital’s award‑winning safety and quality programs.

Key responsibilities

• Provide routine respiratory therapies such as oxygen, nebulizer treatments, chest physiotherapy, and suctioning.
• Assist with emergency interventions, including manual resuscitation and code response.
• Manage and monitor mechanical ventilators, adjusting parameters and troubleshooting as needed.
• Obtain and interpret arterial blood gases and communicate results to the care team.
• Conduct pulmonary function tests and 12‑lead EKGs, identifying life‑threatening arrhythmias.
• Maintain and calibrate respiratory equipment following infection‑control guidelines.
• Document all care, interventions, and patient responses accurately and promptly.
• Participate in quality‑improvement initiatives and departmental clerical duties.

Required profile

• Graduate of an AMA‑approved two‑year respiratory therapy program (CRT or RRT eligibility).
• Current Texas state license or certification as a Respiratory Care Practitioner.
• CRT or RRT credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
• Ability to stand for prolonged periods, lift up to 50 lb, and work in varied temperature environments.
