Respiratory Care Intern

About the role

The Respiratory Care Intern will join the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) team in Little Rock, supporting patient care within the respiratory therapy department. This temporary, fixed‑term position provides hands‑on experience in a clinical setting while completing academic requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Assist licensed respiratory therapists with patient assessments and treatment plans.
• Operate and maintain respiratory equipment such as ventilators, CPAP/BiPAP machines, and oxygen delivery systems.
• Document patient interactions, observations, and interventions in the electronic health record.
• Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and contribute to care coordination.
• Observe infection control and safety protocols at all times.

Required profile

• Current enrollment in a Respiratory Therapy or related health‑science program.
• Eligibility to work in the United States on the first day of employment.
• Strong interest in clinical respiratory care and patient interaction.
• Ability to follow directions, maintain confidentiality, and work as part of a team.
