Residency Registered Nurse – Oncology Specialty (Full Time)

About the role

The Residency Registered Nurse 1 – Oncology Specialty provides patient‑family centered care in a culturally competent, evidence‑based environment at the UHealth Tower. The RN oversees daily practice of nurses and allied health staff while delivering high‑quality oncology services.

Key responsibilities

• Assess assigned patients, document nursing care, report symptoms, and modify treatment plans per physician orders.
• Review and evaluate diagnostic tests, consult with physicians and healthcare professionals to develop and implement care plans.
• Prepare patients for examinations, procedures and treatments, considering age and cultural needs, and provide psychological support.
• Administer medications and perform patient tests safely, maintaining accurate records in compliance with regulatory bodies.
• Communicate care plans to patients, families, and team members, ensuring HIPAA compliance and effective transitions of care.
• Assist with discharge planning, prioritize assignments, and adapt to changing work demands.
• Serve as a preceptor for new staff, offering feedback and guidance.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited nursing school; BSN preferred (ASN graduates have 2 years to complete BSN).
• Valid Florida Registered Nurse license, ACLS and BLS certifications.
• Minimum two years of nursing experience.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, nursing care methods, health and safety guidelines, and excellent patient interaction skills.
