Research Specialist – Grant Administration

About the role
The Maryland Agricultural Experiment Station (MAES) seeks a Research Specialist to manage federal capacity and competitive research grants. Reporting to the Associate Dean for Research and the Associate Director of MAES, you will act as the primary liaison between faculty, USDA‑NIFA, and campus administration, ensuring compliance and supporting the full grant lifecycle.
Key responsibilities
- Administer and coordinate federal capacity and competitive research grants for MAES.
- Prepare and submit NIFA reports and other required documentation.
- Manage intramural grant processes and multistate research collaborations.
- Provide faculty support throughout proposal development, award management, and reporting.
- Organize research‑related meetings, workshops, and reporting activities.
Required profile
- Master’s degree (preferred) or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
- At least three years of experience in research administration, preferably in higher education.
- Prior experience working with USDA or USDA‑NIFA programs.
- Demonstrated ability to plan and manage meetings and events.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
