Research Security Specialist

About the role

The Research Security Specialist supports the Texas A&M University System by ensuring compliance with federal, state, and system research security regulations. Working under general direction, you will monitor and facilitate adherence to a wide range of security standards.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in developing and maintaining a comprehensive compliance program based on ethical conduct and applicable laws.
• Monitor compliance with federal, state, and TAMU system regulations, including statutes, policies, and directives.
• Identify potential compliance vulnerabilities and create corrective action plans.
• Recommend program guidelines, procedures, policies, and regulations.
• Support research security training and respond to subject‑matter expert review requests.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
• At least three years of related experience in compliance or research security.
• Ability to obtain a U.S. government security clearance.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities and experience in a complex, system‑level organization.
