Physical Security Lead, Manufacturing Operations

About the role

Cerebras Systems is seeking an experienced Physical Security Lead for Manufacturing Operations to establish and govern physical security across current and future contract manufacturing locations. Although the role is listed as remote, the incumbent must be based in the San Francisco Bay Area. It is a hands-on individual-contributor position reporting to the Director, Global Physical Security, providing functional leadership without direct reports.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the primary global physical security partner for contract manufacturing sites, developing and governing minimum standards, site requirements, exceptions and risk acceptance.
• Conduct initial, recurring and event-driven site assessments, prioritise findings, establish corrective actions and verify closure.
• Design and govern sensitive-area entry controls (CICO, DBD restrictions, visitor and contractor access, escorting) aligned with cleanroom, ESD, life-safety and production needs.
• Protect intellectual property, prototypes, components and controlled materials through security zoning, access governance and visitor controls.
• Act as security representative for partner-managed guard services, and manage scope, post orders, training, service levels and performance metrics where Cerebras contracts directly.
• Collaborate on access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, visitor management and alarm-monitoring systems, including design reviews and commissioning.
• Define physical security requirements for new manufacturing partners, production lines, facility expansions and contracts, and govern cargo and logistics security (chain of custody, secure staging, shipping and receiving).
• Respond to security incidents, preserve evidence, coordinate fact-finding, identify root causes and track corrective actions.
• Maintain site presence, security metrics, risk reporting, procedures and training, and update security and business leadership regularly.

Required profile

• At least five years of progressively responsible physical security experience supporting manufacturing, industrial, semiconductor, electronics, computing hardware or a comparable environment.
• Demonstrated experience implementing security controls in active manufacturing while balancing production, safety, quality, cleanroom or ESD requirements.
• Experience supporting contract manufacturers, suppliers or partner-operated facilities through standards, assessments and governance.
• Experience protecting intellectual property and sensitive technical information, including CICO or comparable controls.
• Preferred: semiconductor or other IP-intensive manufacturing experience, including cleanrooms, new-product introduction or production ramps.
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent education and experience; ASIS CPP, PSP or PCI certification preferred.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, visitor management, alarm monitoring and contract security service oversight.
• Familiarity with cargo security, chain-of-custody controls, secure shipping and receiving, logistics-provider governance and manufacturing incident response.
• Strong risk assessment, project management, written communication, analytical and stakeholder-influence skills.
• Preferred: Genetec or comparable physical security platform, and familiarity with CTPAT, TAPA, ISO 28000, ISO/IEC 27001 and 27002, NIST SP 800-53 and SP 800-171.

The role requires regular site presence at manufacturing locations near Sunnyvale, CA, about 30-40% travel, and occasional evening, weekend or short-notice support for incidents.
