Research Pharmacist – Full‑Time

About the role

The University of Miami Health System is seeking a full‑time Research Pharmacist to join its Investigational Drug Services (IDS) team. The pharmacist will oversee pharmacotherapy for research participants, ensuring safe preparation and delivery of investigational and chemotherapeutic agents while collaborating closely with multidisciplinary research teams.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise the intravenous admixture program, focusing on preparation and monitoring of chemotherapeutic and investigational IV therapies.
• Review patient profiles and new orders to prevent drug interactions and contraindications.
• Train and supervise technical staff, residents, and interns on hospital and clinic pharmacy policies.
• Ensure compliance with governmental, sponsor, and institutional regulations.
• Manage preparation, review, and documentation of investigational drug products.
• Conduct clinical drug protocol reviews, EMR treatment‑plan builds, and design oncologic regimens.
• Educate research and pharmacy staff on investigational agents, handling, and clinical monitoring.
• Provide medication counseling and assess adherence for patients receiving investigational medications.
• Report unanticipated problems, adverse events, and protocol deviations.
• Assist in developing IDS pharmacy policies, procedures, and pharmacy manuals.

Required profile

• Pharmacy degree (PharmD) with licensure to practice in Florida.
• Experience in clinical research pharmacy or investigational drug services.
• Strong knowledge of IV admixture, chemotherapy preparation, and investigational drug handling.
• Ability to interpret and apply complex drug protocols and regulatory requirements.
• Excellent communication skills for training staff and counseling patients.
